All this due, without a single doubt in my mind, to ketosis. Managing quite happily with Ketogenic diet and set for blood work Monday just to check I am not elevating other levels.

DNA diagnosis confirmed and three PBs - big week M wise
A big week with DNA diagnosis of M confirmed. The common type with 2 mutations on R50X. Thanks to the London M clinic. That news arrived on Thursday. On Friday I set my 3rd all time best treadmill session stats, jogging from the start, to achieve an average speed of 8.6kmph over 7.35km. As I type this I almost struggle to believe given my prior bests over many years.
All this due, without a single doubt in my mind, to ketosis. Managing quite happily with Ketogenic diet and set for blood work Monday just to check I am not elevating other levels.

Two more days and two more lifetime PBs - Keto is working for me - no question
Tuesday
Monday
Great feeling to come off the treadmill
dripping in sweat and with another lifetime PB achieved with a very satisfying
40 plus minute jog. 6.9k in 50 minutes at 8.3kmph average. And on a Monday
morning after cricket at the weekend, where I played without any thought of M,
able simply to focus on the ball. Significantly no post game stiffness, which
in previous weeks has ruled out Monday morning exercise.

M not everything and not everything is M
Have
felt under weather last two days and attributed it to too much carbs over the
weekend. 1st treadmill session this week would indicate I remain in ketosis -
6.35k at 7.6 average and jogging from 13 minutes to 50mins with only gradual
increase in pace . So much better than I expected today.
Am also selected for my 3rd game of cricket in three weeks on Saturday, a 1st since 2004 in England and the fact I have made myself available and felt able to contribute says much. Tonight I play my 1st game of over 40's indoor cricket again just feeling able to say yes to the invite is to me remarkable.
Seems
likely that the bug that has had two of my children off school is the source of
malaise....

Not all plain sailing....
After the euphoria of Saturday, Sunday was a bit of a reality check as muscles were more sore than I expected. No where near levels they would previously have been with the exertion (indeed I have been hospitalised on less) but sore none the same.
Now Wednesday and settling down such that I managed another very good treadmill session today (50 mins 7.5kmph average speed) and that is after slipping off the keto wagon on Monday night. When one formally gets to join a club like the Singapore Cricket Club the odd liquid carb is an imperative.
Will retest keytone level tomorrow as another cricket match awaits on Saturday. Maybe this time I'll manage a semi-decent innings?

Happy to be back in the zone
After a frustrating week in which my overindulgence in carbs over the last weekend had me feeling M for the first time in weeks I managed to get back in the zone this morning. A treadmill session of 50 minutes at an average of 7.7k felt good and a 2.8 mmol/l reading for keytones in my blood simply confirmed that a restricted diet this week, combined with 20 hour water fast has got my body back into taking its energy from fatty acids rather than seeking to access glycogen. Feels tremendous and I am looking forward with renewed excitement to my second debut for Singapore Cricket Club tomorrow!
A ketogenic diet is not easy and temptation is there but rewards are for me high so should be easier to resist now I have that confirmation. MCT oil has been a valuable addition to my diet in my effort to hit a 70/20/10 fat/protein/carb ratio. I have been nearer 60/25/15 this week up until Wednesday night - a reading of 1.1 mmol/L of keytones on Thursday morning and lacklustre exercise ability and feeling M more than I had in weeks convinced me a sort fast was required. 20 hours broadly on water (including a night’s sleep) seem to have done the trick. Now to stay there.
May try and tackle a 10k later this evening - that will be a first!!
